“I Wish to Start learning Guitar”
The first sentence I usually hear when I meet a new person and he knows that I work as a guitar teacher is “Oh, I wish to start learning guitar”, and of course, I reply to him and say, “Okay, why didn’t you?”
Often the response will be that there is no time, or that he is not talented, or one of his friends tried to learn guitar and failed!
The truth is that each of us at one time or another wished to learn guitar. For me, it was when I was 9 years old and I saw Duke Fleed in Grendizer.
I remember every time he felt worried would sit under a tree and hold the guitar and play, and I told my father that I wanted to learn guitar, but nothing happened.
But I was listening to everything that had a guitar, and it always caught my attention, any sequence of a program or cartoon with a guitar in it, but I didn’t know where to start.
I was waiting for someone to come and tell me, “Here is your guitar, let me teach you and you will play in a month”.
Most of the people are waiting for this person who will never come. This is not in the guitar only, by the way, remove the word guitar and replace it with anything else like tennis, programming, Photoshop, whatever you want.
We are all waiting for something or someone to come and take us by the hand and teach us what we want to learn for a long time.
“I don’t have any talent”
Lack of talent is probably the most reason responsible for stopping a lot of people start learning guitar.
By the way, you don’t know if you are talented or not until you learn and try for yourself. No one is born who can play alone like this without basics and education, even Mozart, who is the most talented person in the universe, his father taught him until he discovered that his son had talent.
You don’t know if you are talented or not until you learn
I agree that there are people who have no idea about music at all, but these people never wish to learn in the first place, so don’t compare yourself to these people.
If you are serious about learning guitar, let me tell you exactly what you need to start learning guitar right now.
#1 You need to buy a guitar
Yes, you need to buy your first guitar, because as long as you have not paid money for something you will never try to invest time in it.
This is human nature. Even if you got the guitar as a gift, probably you still won’t learn it. You will be happy with it and maybe try goofing around with it, and then you will leave it or hang it on the wall.
Go and buy a guitar, any guitar you like its color and within your budget buy it. Start with it, and if you continue to play and your level progresses, you will understand guitars and their types a little bit more, then you can upgrade your current guitar.
#2 You need a beginner’s curriculum
This is more important than the guitar you bought. If the curriculum is difficult and complicated you will feel lost and with the first obstacle you encounter, you will quit and forget that you always wanted to play the guitar, and all of this is caused by what?
The wrong approach. This is why you must choose the right one from the start so that this does not happen. Here you will find a curriculum for teaching guitar from beginning to professionalism.
The problem with YouTube is that it has a lot of videos that teach you, but there is no clear approach, they are all videos that teach you songs and you still don’t know how to hold the guitar or the plectrum!

#3 You need a Good Teacher
This is an option. If you can do it, you will save yourself a lot of time and effort, why? Because a good teacher knows the right curriculum for you.
He will choose the right curriculum that leads you to play what you want in the shortest possible time.
There are important basics to follow in any style of music, these are what you must learn like how to hold the guitar, the names of the fingers, how to tune the strings, all of these are common things that you must know in the first place.
I wrote an article on how to choose a good guitar teacher, check it out.
#4 You need Time to practice
I wish there was a pill like the Matrix movie that you take and you can say “I know how to play guitar”! Might in the future something like that, but right now the only way to get you to play is to hold the guitar for at least 20 or 30 minutes twice a week, and practice.

#5 You need Patience
The key to every door or road you want to walk, you must be patient because everything you read or learn at first is often the first time you hear about it. You will take some time to develop some skills, and your hands will take time to get used to the chords and scales.
For example, if you practice for 10 minutes a week and expect to learn the guitar in two months, this will not happen, forget it!
However, if you practice every day, and I mean every day for half an hour, then you are practicing 3 folds a day compared to the last example in a week! Of course, it is possible in two months to be playing songs you know.
in summary
To start learning guitar your need to buy a guitar, find a beginner’s method, If you can afford it look for a good teacher to save you a lot of time, you need to practice the guitar for 3o minutes at least 3 times a week, and finally, you need to have some patience and give your self some time to develop the required skills.
